Our Story

About Scott & Ellen

If you'd told us thirty years ago that we'd someday sell our house, move into an RV, and travel the country full-time, we probably would have smiled, thanked you for the laugh…and gone back to mowing the lawn.

That simply wasn't the plan.

Thirty Years In New Hampshire

Like many families, we spent decades building a wonderful life in New Hampshire. We raised three amazing children, built careers we enjoyed, and created a home filled with birthdays, graduations, neighborhood gatherings, pool parties, and countless memories. We loved that chapter of our lives and wouldn't change a thing.

As our children grew into adults and started lives of their own, we found ourselves asking a simple question:

“What's next?”

Photography had become one of Scott's favorite hobbies, often leading him to New England's mountains, waterfalls, and coastline in search of the next great landscape. Ellen has always loved to travel, and together we enjoyed exploring new places whenever we could.

The Iceland Trip That Changed Everything

Everything changed after a photography trip to Iceland.

To make the most of the trip, we rented a camper van. Neither of us considered ourselves campers—and we still don't—but we quickly discovered that having everything we needed with us completely changed the way we experienced the country. Instead of planning each day around hotel reservations, we planned around what we wanted to see, where the weather was best, and where curiosity led us.

When we returned home, we couldn't stop talking about that style of travel.

At first, the idea wasn't to live in an RV. Our goal was simply to explore more of the United States before deciding where we eventually wanted to retire. The more we researched, the more we realized an RV would let us experience the country in a way that fit us perfectly.

Building The Foundation

We spent the next several years preparing—not by planning every mile, but by building a solid foundation. We reduced debt, waited until our children had finished college and were building lives of their own, researched RVs, and prepared for a lifestyle that would give us the flexibility to keep working while exploring the country.

When we stepped into a Riverstone fifth wheel at the Hershey RV Show, it felt less like finding an RV and more like finding a home that happened to have wheels.

In October 2022, we officially hit the road.

More Than A YouTube Channel

Today, Travel More RV has become much more than a travel blog or YouTube channel. It's a reflection of how we choose to live.

We don't travel because we love camping. Our RV is simply our home.

We rarely think of ourselves as campers. Campgrounds are where we park while we explore the places around them, meet interesting people, discover local history, experience incredible landscapes, and occasionally solve an RV problem or two.

Along the way, Scott became a Certified Mobile RV Technician, combining a lifelong passion for solving technical problems with the opportunity to help fellow RV owners. Between his IT consulting background, RV technical work, and our YouTube channel, we enjoy sharing what we've learned—the successes, the mistakes, and everything in between. Ellen continues to work remotely in her professional career, proving that with the right technology and a little planning, it's possible to balance work and adventure.

If you've watched many of our videos, you've probably figured out that Scott is usually the one with another idea, while Ellen is usually deciding whether to encourage him…or roll her eyes. Somehow, that balance has worked pretty well for more than thirty years.

If there's one thing this journey has taught us, it's that you don't have to have every detail figured out before you begin. You just need a good foundation, a willingness to adapt, and someone you trust enough to share the adventure with.
